Inspired by a song

I'm digging those raindrops running down the windows. They turned out real nice. The more detailed but line-less background is a good contrast against the more simply coloured, lined foreground, while the yellow of the lights and pony fur serve to tie the two together. I'm not sure if it would look as good with a, heh, horse of a different colour.

Given the lyrics of the song it's based on, I'm interpreting this as quiet, morose contemplation of past mistakes, but that expression is also just neutral enough to open up a lot of other narrative possibilities if one puts aside the music. Is the faint eye redness due to tears, or merely tiredness?  Are they sad? Content? Pondering the mysteries of life in the swirls of tea steam while winding down for the evening?

Dang, this piece made me do a lot more thinking than I was expecting.
